Jasimo’s Blog

Pronounced jay-sah-moe. Observations of life as told by one man.

A Change Is Coming Soon

Some of you may have visited this blog and wondered why it took so long for me to write up a new post. That shouldn’t concern anyone, and seriously, no, I don’t buy into popularity contests, but as you can see, much of my writings I’ve done here pertain to entertainment. That’s the subject of this post yet again. However, I have something much more to say.

I rather want to call it a “website” instead of a “blog”. I never wanted it to look like the New Yorker magazine with newspaper fonts and fancy looking paintings. I hate it when they do ‘mainstream’ talk about high failure rates when you have folks like me doing blogs as a way to cope. I always wanted to stray away from the politics and etiquette of how to succeed at blogs. Lastly, I absolutely have no intention of wanting to call this a “business”, which is now official jargon we use to publish websites and blogs. This is where the blurred line between exhaustive blogging and simple enough content creation is drawn.

We call them “blogs” today because of “social media”. Two separate worlds when it comes to creating content — either you’re making in-depth mind-provoking and — I like using this word as much as it sounds… COMPELLING! — content. Or, going bite-size on social, now my preferred choice. The idea of using the Internet to raise your voice remains the same. Back in the 2Ks, you could log onto a provider like Tripod and build your way to a simple enough website full of simple thoughts and simple photographs using your custom-built brain that’s simple enough to use. Nowadays, it seems simple until you realize how fickle this world has become. Everything is all about numbers — page views, likes and visitors. Insufficient content just might drive away the people who will later unfollow you because they didn’t like what they saw. That’s human behavior I can’t control.

The point is… I’m very independent and don’t have to “follow the crowd”. I enjoy what I do — creating ‘Melody’ cartoon images as a companion project and most importantly, running a whole new Instagram account — click here. My new focus is about physical media, which has been my primary subject since late January of this year. A lifelong interest in presenting content about movies, TV shows and music has helped me earn a great deal of trust and support more than every other exhausting web project combined, including my WordPress sites: this one and my aforementioned cartoon image project. That success, unfortunately, gave me little time to work on WordPress, and on top of it, I’m already about to have a serious case of writers block and brain drain.

This also means I am doing a format change for ‘Jasimo’s Blog’, switching over to a structure similar to Instagram with briefly written captions and accompanying photos. I’ll say this once again… I never wanted my site to look like a g-d—n book or a big business operation! Content creation is supposed to be fun, unique and carefree, not something that ignites division or dissing off people. My creativity level is simple enough by using quirky ideas that stand out differently from the crowd, and we should be thankful for that.

I am now part of a movement in the revival of physical media — we’re talking about anything you can stick inside a working electronic device: CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes. All of this recent backlash over streaming services turning into 1990s-era cable has gotten so hotly debated now that it was time to take control of how entertainment media is consumed… independently. Soon, ‘Jasimo’s Blog’ will convert into ‘Jasimo Discman’, as it will eventually be called. It aims to inform and inspire without writing up essay-length movie summaries filled with spoilers and other revealing elements.

And I will use that similar format structure on my fictional site ‘The Melody Page’ — click here. Currently in the testing phase, the bloggy entries are written out stories in first-person and I’m willing to keep this format along with Instagram-like content. Rest assured that my WordPress sites and Instagram accounts will be simultaneously run, but you can expect to find my posted content variable over both. I’d encourage you to follow them if you have the chance. ‘Discman’ keeps you interested in entertainment while ‘Melody’ is made to entertain — get the picture?

This will be the final time I’m writing a long and lengthy post on ‘Jasimo’s Blog’. It’s time for a major change and the change happens right now. Watch for it.
